It's just until the next home League game against Grimsby Town on 19th August.
   Since the last war, 4 teams have won the League Championship 2 years in succession. The teams are Liverpool , Manchester United , Wolverhampton Wanderers and Portsmouth.
   Portsmouth were the hosts of  the first ever floodlit League game in February 1956 but were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle.
   Bob Blyth has the distinction of having served the club in all capacities. He was a player in 1899, Captain , Manager , Director and Chairman.
   Portsmouth hold the record for retaining the FA Cup for the longest number of years, - it was won in 1939 and not contested again until 1946.
   One of Portsmouth Football Clubs earliest incarnations was as the "Portsmouth Football Association Club" one of whose members was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle of 'Sherlock Holmes' fame. 
   Portsmouth are the only team to have been knocked out of an F.A. Cup semi final in a penalty shoot-out. It happened at Villa Park against Liverpool in 1992.
   Portsmouths first ever coloured player was Lloyd Delaphena who made 8 appearances for the club between 1948 and 1950 and went on to become a sports journalist on Jamaican TV.
   Portsmouth have had only one season where they remained undefeated at home and that was in the Championship season of 1948/49 when they won 18 and drew 3 of their 21 games and conceded just 12 goals.
   Portsmouths worst season was in 1958/59 when they won just 6 games and lost 27 - not surprisingly they were relegated that season !!!!
   The first ever player to be sent off on a Sunday was Portsmouths Bobby Kellard who was dismissed against Orient in Jan 1974.
   Fratton Parks record gate was in the FA Cup 6th round in 1949 against Derby County when 51,385 supporters watched the game.
   Portsmouth were the first team to rise from the 3rd Division to win the League Championship.
   Bert Barlow holds the unique distinction of winning both an F.A. Cup winners medal and a championship winners medal.
   The 1st Pompey player to score in a Wembley final was Septimus Rutherford in the F.A. Cup final of 1934.
